My wife and I stayed at the Union Inn recently. Whilst having a meal there, our room was ransacked. We had locked our room. The thief had entered the Inn via the open and unattended Reception Area, took duplicate keys, which were on display, then climbed the stairs, which could not be observed from the bar/restaurant area. The Landlord said he would pay for the items stolen but after nearly 2 months no money has been received. This is after numerous telephone calls and letters. The Landlord has broken his contract with us, he has failed to provide a duty of care to his patrons. He is responsible, in law, for the return of our possessions or a compensatory payment. We will be pursuing this in the courts, if necessary.
Room 10 was small. The en suite was relatively new. The water for the shower and bath was good but it was merely a dribble in the sink. The room was noisy from fans working all night. The food was good.
