I've always wanted to go to Switzerland and the Alpls during summer but since hotels (and everything in general) are extremely expensive in Suisse I've never had the chance, until a friend and me discovered the CityNightLine going to Zürich from €58 return from the Netherlands. So we went to Zürich for a day, 12 hours, and I'm very glad I did! It is honestly one of the prettiest cities I've been to so far. The entire city is spotless, the churches are divine (with the most extraordinary leaded lights I've ever seen), the old architecture and buildings are gorgeous, the water is crystal clear, the Kunsthaus and Swiss National Museum are very nice, and the panoramic views over the city from both the University Terrace and the Üetliberg are indescribably beautiful. But the prices are indeed insane, be prepared to pay at least €4 for a regular coffee at a normal café or €2 for a plain bagel. But I am definitely going back to Switzerland when I'm not a student anymore!
